Orienteering is a challenging outdoor adventure sport. The aim is to navigate between control points marked on an orienteering map and decide the best route to complete the course in the quickest time.
The South Yorkshire Schools Orienteering League aims to provide school pupils from Y3 to Y13 with the opportunity to learn and develop map-reading skills while improving their fitness in a fun, competitive and challenging sport. The league consists of 9 events held from September to June at different locations throughout Sheffield. Prizes are presented to top performing individuals, year group teams and school teams at a special event to mark in the end of the league in July.
The league is run by South Yorkshire Schools Orienteering Association which is an association between South Yorkshire Orienteers and teachers in Sheffield. We promote and encourage Sheffield School Pupils to compete at a regional, national and even international levels.
