2018-2019 Hockey Report
With the weather been kind, Sheffield School’s hockey ran smoothly with all 5 tournaments seeing teams of boys, girls and mixed teams enjoying themselves. This helped increase participation numbers and gave more pupils the opportunity to play but also added a great level of competition!
We saw Tapton regain the U16 Sheffield Schools title making it 4 years running with Westbourne placing as runners up. This lead to Tapton and Westbourne representing Sheffield at the South Yorkshires and then both going onto the North East Regional round of the National Schools, which is an achievement within itself. Well done to all involved!
At the U14 level we saw Westbourne crowned Sheffield champions with Silverdale as runners up, they then both went on to represent Sheffield at the South Yorkshire round. We also held tournaments for U15, U13 and U12 age groups. The U12 tournament saw Birkdale take the title for the boys / mixed teams and Sheffield High School taking it for the girl’s, a great turn out! King Ecgberts took the U15 title with some fantastic individual talents coming through with Eleanor Milbourn, Bex Shorter and Anna Hewlett who all play down at Sheffield Hallam Club. At U13 level Tapton took the win with Silverdale as runners up.
Well done to all involved and a special thank you to all the PE teachers taking the time and effort to hold practices, friendlies and bring to the tournaments. I look forward to the 2019/20 season.
