PRIMARY RELAYS CANCELLED
Restrictions are lifted sooner rather than later we will try to re-arrange them.
Individual and team certificates from the League will be sent out to schools, together with any Championships certificates which were not collected on the day.
Full results from the Championships should appear on the website fairly soon.
As this may be the final communication with you all this season, I would like to say a big thank you to all the schools that hosted fixtures and to all the team who have helped throughout: Fran Barnes (results), Pete Delamere (starter extraodinaire), John Gilbert, Stuart Jones and Pete McLeod (course marking, marshalling and finish funnels) and the ticket team. The weather has been challenging this season, but the enthusiasm of all those taking part and supporting the runners has, as always, been wonderful.
Primary School Relays
Castle Dike Playing Fields
At this moment March 12, 2020 the Primary School Relays scheduled for Saturday 21 March are still ON.
We are, however, very aware that the situation for schools, and the advice being given in relation to Covid-19 / Coronavirus, is changing daily.
A final decision as to whether the relays can take place will be made at the beginning of next week and the decision will be posted on the website by Tuesday 17 March.
We will also try to inform by email all schools which have taken part in the League this season.
General Information about the Relays
There will be four races: Y3/4 Girls, Y3/4 Boys, Y5/6 Girls, Y5/6 Boys
4 runners make up a team. Each runner runs a lap which will be slightly shorter than full League distance.
A school’s outgoing runner will be set off as their incoming runner crosses the finish line.
Registration is on the day and all numbers and pins will be provided. Numbers must be pinned to the FRONT of the vest or t shirt.
Incomplete school teams will be encouraged to ‘adopt’ a runner (or runners) from another school in order to make a complete team. This should enable all those turning up on the day to get a run, although mixed school teams cannot be awarded certificates.
Primary cross country is hugely popular in Sheffield. The season runs from September until March, with 6 or 7 League fixtures, a Championships at Graves Park and a Relays event in March. Most fixtures take place in Sheffield parks, with one or two occurring on school premises. At the end of the season, there are awards for teams and individuals in both League and Championships, and for teams in the Relay competition. All fixtures take place on Saturday mornings.
This site provides the event manual, entry forms, fixture details and results from the various primary schools cross country events.
Schools volunteer to host League fixtures, but we are always in need of volunteers to help with the organisation on the day. If you can help in this role, please contact the Secretary.
